Artist Spotlight

I got a chance to chat with Minnesota artist MoeDeLL recently. We talked about life, music, style and keeping music true to his own sound and style in such a competitive industry. I struggle putting a title on his style, he’s a bit country, blue grass, Americana and folk music mixed all together. MoeDeLL finds his writing inspiration in his own life and life experiences with his family. Writing music seems to have taught him to pay attention to the small things, the details of daily life, such as the “mom watching her young child smiling back at her at the grocery store.” Nature and its calming perspective have taken root in his writing as well. We laughed about embarrassing life moments, and personal experiences in opening for national artists such as Cheap Trick and Brett Michaels. The experiences he has gained from traveling and playing music in venues or festivals has trickled down well into his songwriting. He has written relatable songs with deep meanings. From his beginnings in Southern Virginia and continuing an amazing 250+ shows a year in Minnesota and the surrounding areas. MoeDeLL can sing just about anything successfully from Johnny Cash and Tom Petty but he has such a great catalog of his own material, it is unnecessary for him to do many of those songs as fillers. He has a household name in this part of Minnesota and has built a great fan base here, so here he stays even with the cold winters and short, sweet summers. We learned that we will never be ice fishing buddies (personal joke) but other than that we have a lot in common especially in the love of music and information. I really appreciate your time and humor to add to my blog, Thanks MoeDeLL! definitely chat again soon! This content block can only be edited from a browser MoeDeLL was nominated for Songwriter of the Year, Album of the Year, and Americana Artist of the Year for 2020/21 at Midwest CMO awards. I was hoping to see him in person at this year’s awards show, but MoeDeLL was not able to be in attendance. How can anyone not be excited about this upcoming album? STEREOTYPE, Swindell’s 4th studio album is set to release April 8th. The 4 songs that have preceded this full album release were kicked off with Single Saturday Night, which on Spotify is boasting 82 MILLION streams; then there's Some Habits which has a music video featuring Swindell's beautiful girlfriend Courtney Little, and then Never Say Never - the duet with the talented Lainey Wilson, which released in November ‘21. I’m Gonna Let Her is the most recent song release and is available on your favorite steaming service.

Cole penned the song list to STEREOTYPE on a short video on his Instagram page as a contest to win the handwritten track list. To see the full list, get your fingers ready for that screenshot. It gave me flashbacks to watching MTV as a teenager and waiting for my favorite videos to play and then record. (Shout out to the 80’s kids who know exactly what I am talking about! HA!) The album will consist of 13 total songs and includes the tour title as a track featuring Hardy. Preorder STEREOTYPE on Cole Swindell's website

In anticipation of Kip Moore releasing his next promised album, a fan favorite from the 2012 album, ‘Up All Night’- Crazy One More Time is heading to radio with a bit of an instrumental change. I believe it is likely to set a mood of nostalgia for many fans, including myself. The song is truly one of his best creations that resonates with listeners, a beautiful memorial of a relationship with a relatable account of a long-lost love looking to rekindle that unrelenting flame. On the ‘Up All Night’ album there were successful releases like Beer Money and Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck which have more of a party crowd feel, in that logic, I understand the delay and rekindling of an old favorite, so to speak. Honestly, it's one of my all-time favorite songs. I had the opportunity this last fall to see Moore at his headlining show in Chattanooga. Headlining shows are my favorite ones, especially when I hear a variety of songs from album releases and EPs. The catalog of songs that were chosen had the band playing over 2.5 hrs. Not all the fans were veteran fans, but they were equally charmed. It seemed like I was in a time capsule, being reminded of each show I’ve experienced where the most recent radio release was such a crowd pleaser. The excitement didn't dull, it spread like wildfire in the venue, prompting the next song and the next song after that.

There's no doubt that even after a 10 year long wait, Crazy One More Time will have an enormous impact on radio, now we will all wait and see how it cycles through with a new spin on it in anticipation of the upcoming album.
